Editorial responsibility

CareerMagnet is operated by Vikrant Malik, who is responsible for editorial decisions, publication and corrections. Occasional contributors are credited for their work.

Bylines identify the people who wrote an article. Editing, review and story suggestions are acknowledged separately where appropriate. Author profiles describe contributors’ relevant experience accurately.

How we verify information

We assess the source, date and context of important factual claims before publishing them. Where available, we use original material such as official notifications, legislation, research papers, datasets, employer announcements and recorded interviews. We identify information obtained from other publications and link to supporting material where possible.

For recruitment, examinations and admissions, checks include the issuing organisation, official notification, relevant recruitment or admission cycle, eligibility, application dates, fees and official application channel. A social-media post, forwarded message or screenshot is not treated as confirmation without checking its origin and supporting evidence.

When reporting statistics, we check the period, geography, definitions and comparisons involved. Estimates, forecasts and limitations are identified. Where sources disagree, we explain the disagreement rather than present an uncertain claim as settled fact.

We check quotations against their original context where available. We also check whether photographs and videos relate to the event, place and time described, and identify illustrative material appropriately.

Vikrant Malik is responsible for publication decisions and verification standards. Contributors are responsible for supplying reliable sources for their submissions. Verification is proportionate to the nature and potential impact of the story; we do not claim a separate independent fact-checking department.

Authorship and contributions

Bylines reflect who wrote the article. Someone who suggests a topic is not automatically identified as its author. Substantive editing, specialist review or other assistance may be acknowledged separately, with the contributor’s agreement. Qualifications, experience and editorial roles are described accurately.

Conflicts and right of reply

Writers disclose relevant employment, financial interests, personal relationships or other connections that could affect the reader’s assessment of a story. Gifts, hospitality or payment must not determine favourable coverage.

When reporting serious allegations, we seek a response from the affected person or organisation. If no response is received before publication, we say so where relevant. A later response is considered fairly and added where it materially improves the report.

News and opinion

News articles focus on verified information and relevant context. Opinion articles are labelled and present the author’s interpretation or argument. Factual claims within opinion articles remain subject to verification.

Headlines, images and summaries should accurately represent the article.

Fairness and independence

Editorial decisions are based on relevance, evidence and readers’ interests. We distinguish allegations from established facts and seek a response from people or organisations facing serious criticism or allegations.

Relevant personal, professional or financial conflicts are disclosed. Commercial relationships do not buy favourable editorial coverage.

Advertising and sponsorship

Where applicable, sponsored articles, paid partnerships and affiliate relationships are clearly disclosed alongside the relevant content. Advertising is distinguishable from editorial material.

Originality, images and AI

We publish original work and use third-party material with appropriate permission, licensing or another lawful basis, with attribution where required.

If AI tools assist with content, the responsible human author or editor remains accountable for accuracy and originality. Material AI involvement is disclosed when needed to explain how content was produced. Generated or illustrative images must not be presented as documentary evidence.

We avoid publishing unnecessary private information and take particular care when reporting on children.

Updates and corrections

We update stories when significant information changes and correct errors under our Corrections Policy. Publication dates are not changed merely to make unchanged articles appear recent.
